The historic ambience combined with the warm interior award the Hauptwache Restaurant with a very special atmosphere. Enjoy the many-sided assortment of meals and drinks in our amply rooms which yet don't lack snugness. A characteristic feature of Hauptwache is the big wooden baking oven at the heart of the restaurant, inviting you to have a look over the pizza baker's shoulder.
As part of the ensembles at Paradeplatz, Hauptwache is historically, urbanistically and architecturally one of the most valuable places in Schleswig-Holstein.
Built from 1690 to 1700, the premises are declared a historic monument since 1968.
In its original function, Hauptwache accomodated guards and, if present, prisoners. Even Uwe-Jens Lornsen, a member of the unity movement in Schleswig-Holstein, was imprisoned here.
Today, Hauptwache can still be found in its original location - only the function has changed.
